About The Club:
The Counties Dog Training Club is based in Franklin and is one of the few clubs in Greater Auckland to have an indoor as well as an outdoor floodlit training area. Founded in 1975, currently the club has a membership of more than 80, ranging in age from under 10 years to 80 years.
We use positive reinforcement training methods, including the use of balls, toys, treats and any other inducements that may motivate the dog. Training can be a lot of fun for both you and your dog, and Counties' goal is to help you train your dog so that he is a well-mannered member of your household. All of our instructors are members of the NZKC.
Weekly classes are held for Domestic and Advanced Obedience, Agility and Clicker Training. They are all held at Kidd Elliot Park, Te Hihi. Corner of Linwood and Kidd Rds.
Obedience: Obedience classes are held Tuesday nights for the Competition course and Senior classes, and Thursday nights for the Domestic course. The Domestic Training course (beginners) are on a Monday night at 6:00pm and Thursday nights at 7.00pm and is of 7 weeks duration. Following this course, the handlers may join the club and do other aspects of dog training or pre competition classes on Thursday nights.
Agility: Agility classes are held every Thursday night from February to November, rain or shine. Beginners classes are at 6.45pm and are of 8 weeks duration. After the course, handlers are given the opportunity to become club members and continue their training to competition level.
Flygility: The monthly NALA Flygility course will be run at the club grounds on a Sunday afternoon. There will be 1 hour for training usually between 2pm and 3pm, before the NALA course is run.
